Dream On (feat. Robyn and Ola Salo) (from People Say) — Christian Falk
Atlantic
2006
Rating:

Robyn's fans have always found her dulcet voice to be a reprieve from most of life's hardships, but she, Ark's Ola Salo and Christian Falk extend an even grander offer of amnesty to thugs, bad men, punks, lifers, locked-up interns, pigs, snitches, freaks, junkies, fakes, phonies, drunks, cowards and manic preachers. Like the Statue of Liberty, Robyn offers a place for these huddled masses to rest their "weary heads" while promising, "You won't be squealed on, ripped on tonight / You won't be back-stabbed, double-crossed, face down, teeth knocked out, lying in a gutter somewhere." It's not Aerosmith, Cher's ode to "Gypsies, Tramps and Thieves" or nearly as dark as the lyrics may make it seem. The song goes out to "bad men," but the breakbeats and tiny keyboard are for anyone "wishing you were anywhere else but right here."
